On Our Animal Companions
Helping God take care of animals really is a gift.
They teach us so much about love, loyalty, forgiveness, innocence and enjoying the simple things in life.
Caring for them helps keep us human.
"A righteous man has regard for the life of his animal.." - Proverbs 12:10a
"Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!" - Luke 12:24
"Know the state of your flocks, and put your heart into caring for your herds." - Proverbs 27:23
"Your unfailing love, O LORD, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O LORD. How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings." - Psalm 36:5-7
"The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the cobra’s den, and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea." - Isaiah 11:5-9 (Referring to the future for the earth after the Lord's return)
"For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God." - Romans 8:19-21
